About us

Seattle Envelopes is a 501(с)(3) non-profit focused on helping families displaced by the war and violence.

We are a team of 30+ volunteers who have relied on self-funding and community donations until 2024 for all our projects. At the start of the war, some of our volunteers worked to help refugees at the Romania-Ukraine border and at the Bucharest airport get to their next destination safely. Currently, we help families who have moved to the Seattle area and are slowly settling into their new lives.

We look forward to expand our pool of resources in order to fund current projects, start new ones, and help even more families to rebuild their lives.

Our mission
Seattle Envelopes helps displaced families from Eastern Europe to rebuild their lives in the US through resettlement services, education, and community engagements.
We provide targeted support to help immigrants integrate:

English as a Second Language classes for both children and adults (a total of 12 groups each week).
Enrichment classes and camps for kids from low-income families.
Resettlement seminars that cover a range of essential topics on the legal, healthcare and education systems, and much more.
Academic/crisis consultations for kids and parents who need immediate support with their unique needs.
Logistics assistance: we help with job search and daily logistical tasks (phone calls and paperwork), which can be challenging due to language and cultural barriers.
Resource navigation: we assist refugees in finding community resources and applying for funding.
A large part of our work is in education.

We register kids for school, serve as family and cultural liaisons in 4+ school districts, mediate in cases of miscommunication at school, consult parents’ pro-bono on special education, ELL and college planning, and work with families on adapting to the U.S. K-college system.

This year, we have a new cohort of recently arrived Ukrainian high-school students who will be going to local colleges with full scholarships.
...and more.

We have helped various families find housing and move (yes, we carry boxes and mattresses), as well as collected and delivered household goods/furniture to them.

We collect/fix laptops for refugees; we also do annual community drives for school supplies and Christmas gifts.

Finally, we often help individual families with small expenses: putting down a deposit on a car, paying for a doctor's visit and work-related training, buying sports equipment and textbooks.
